Hi. Today is the last friday before Diwali and there are no big releases this week. However, Anupam Kher’s production Ranchi Dairies has released today. This film is Mr Kher’s second production venture, the first being “Maine Gandhi ko nahin maara” in 2005. Ranchi Dairies is written and directed by Sattwik Mohanty who has earlier assisted directors on films like My friend Pinto and Meeruthiya Gangsters. The central characters of Ranchi Dairies have been played by Himansh Kohli, Taaha Shah and Saundarya Sharma. Saundarya is marking her debut with this film. Jimmy Shergil and Mr Kher are also seen in supporting roles. The music of this film has been composed by Jeet Ganguly, Tony Kakkar, Nickk, Imran and Bobby. The songs are written by Sattwik (multi talented dude), Manoj Muntashir, Tony and Nickk. The songs are beautifully sung by Arijeet Singh, Mika, Tony, Palak Muchhal, Neha Kakkar and Raahi.

For any film, the trailer is the only way for us to decide whether we want to watch a film or not. Now here, the trailer does not do justice to the content of the film. I did not like the trailer and honestly walked in the theatre with zero expectations, but my perception kept changing as the film was progressing. Ranchi Dairies is a film about 3 people living in Ranchi with big dreams. Sattwik has written a fun filled story that has an unexpected set of twists. These twists along with humorous dialogues create a fantastic comic timing. There were many scenes that left the audience laughing and lauding!

Saundarya has definitely impressed the audience with her debut and lets hope she gets more strong characters to play in future. Taaha Shah has been seen in films like Love ka the end, Baar Baar Dekho and Gippi. So far, he has more or less been unnoticed. With Ranchi Dairies, he has proved that he has great acting potential, not to miss his gorgeous looks! Himansh Kohli is seen as the usual cute lover boy and has done full justice to  his character. Mr Kher and Jimmy Shergil were outstanding as always.

There are 4 songs in this film, all distinct to their own genres. Thoda aur, sung by Arijeet and Palak , a sweet romantic song, is my favorite.

I really wish people were more aware about Ranchi Dairies releasing today. Its a light hearted, fun filled, full family entertainer  that will leave you with a smile while you leave the big screen. Watch it! I give it 3 stars out of 5.

Now I am gonna see you next week with the review of Golmaal Again. Till then, stick around on for all the bollywood masala.
